The Inspector-General of Police(IGP) has reiterated the need for members in the service to exhibit high sense of professionalism. Despite the caution, many police officers in the service still continue to exhibit acts that contradict what the service stands for.
This portal has sighted a video on social media where a driver has been brutalised by the police for refusing to pay GHC 50 bribe. The Accra-Agona Swedru bound vehicle reportedly jumped the traffic at Mcarthy and was given a hot chase by the police and stopped at Kasoa-Official Town.
According to information gathered, the two police officers demanded an amount of GHC 50 but the driver was willing to pay GHC 20. This infuriated the officers, who pounced on the driver and inflicted some mayhem on him.
He was hit on the head and other body parts of his body several times with the butt of the gun leading to him sustaining various degrees of injuries. A civilian who was filming the incident had his phone snatched from him and destroyed by the police.
The driver was later taken to the Ngleshie Amanfro Polyclinic for treatment by the passengers.
