National Organizer of the NDC Captain Rtd Joshua Akamba has mocked the NPP for failing to do due diligence before recruiting thugs to serve as vigilantes ahead of election 2020.
Captain Akamba was speaking in an interview with Accra based Asempa fm as monitored by Myafricatoday.com on the afternoon of Friday October 11th, 2019. ‘In recruiting these boys, they made the mistake of adding some neutrals who in turn sent us pictures of what the they(NPP) are doing at Asutuare’, he said in the interview.
On being asked why the NDC wouldn’t forward their evidence to the Police for action to be taken, Mr Akamba cited instances that accounted for why his party wouldn’t do that. The refusal of the Police to work on pictures and videos of fatalities recorded at the Ayawaso Bye election was one.
In another example, the NDC Organizer cited the rejection of major recommendations by the Emile Short fact-finding commission, that was set up by the President to look into the matter of the violence that characterised the bye election at Ayawaso West Wuogon in early 2018.
He believed that the incompetence displayed by the Police CID in the Takoradi Missing Girls matter, was another reason why they as a party considered it a useless venture in cooperating with the Police in any matter of national concern. ‘Why should we send them pictures, when they’ve failed to act on previous ones?, he asked. ‘ We know nothing will come out of it if we should send them these pictures’, he added.
Mr Akamba disclosed further that from Tema to Ashaiman, they knew all the vigilantes being trained by the NPP and that Ghanaians should be prepared to hear from the NDC on their next line of action.
