Officials of the National Identification Authority (NIA) in the ongoing registration exercise fled from a centre after a resident unleashed bees on them at Chamba, in the Nanumba North District of the Northern Region.

The centre mynewsgh.com gathered, has since been closed down after pandemonium broke out following the incident that saw the bees deal with officials who were busily capturing bio data of residents.

Bimbilla District Commander, ASP Evans Vorvor  who confirmed the development to mynewsgh.com said he received  a call from Chamba Station Officer one Inspector Godfred Atunku on Wednesday October 9, 2019 that the Supervising Registration Officer of NIA registration centre at the new market area Chamba, one Nsibiche Otapin Bright came to the station to report that two men namely Yaw Akwaba and Godfred Akwaba came to the registration centre to register but tried to jump the queue and people started grumbling.

That the complainant approached them and asked them to go and join the queue but they became offended and threatened that they should wait 3.00pm will not reach before they will close down their centre.

He claimed that a tree closer to the registration centre where bees are occupying and when Yaw and Godfred left the place less than 20 minutes the bees came to attack them and he highly suspect that it was Yaw and Godfred who threw stones at the bees hence their attack on them.

The District Commander quickly went to Chamba to visit the scene where he observed that the centre was closed and nobody was met.

Suspect Yaw Akwaba and Godfred Akwaba have been arrested and are currently in police detention assisting with investigations.
