A Deputy General Secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Obiri Boahen has taken two ardent critics of President Akufo-Addo including, Dr. Nyaho-Nyaho Tamakloe, a leading figure in the party and a musician who is a known sympathizer of the party Kwame A Plus to the cleaners.
“Both Nyaho-Nyaho Tamaklo and A Plus are frustrated because they are not getting what they want therefore for anyone to say President Akufo-Addo is corrupt because of statements from them is senseless and illogical”, Nana Obiri Boahen lashed..
According to the outspoken Deputy General Secretary, Dr. Nyaho-Nyaho Tamakloe who is also a founding member of NPP has personal hatred for Nana Akufo-Addo from day one hence his entrench position about Akufo-Addo on strides made in corruption fight.
“Nyaho-Nyaho Tamaklo is on record to have said that Nana Akufo-Addo can never be President so what should we expect from him now Akufo-Addo is President?”, Nana Obiri quizzed host of Kumasi FM’s morning show host, Nana Yaw Mensah Joel in an interview monitored by mynewsgh.
The Deputy NPP General Secretary was reacting to comments by the Deputy National Communication Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Anthony Kwaku Boahen who insisted that President Akufo-Addo is corrupt and cannot absolve himself from corruption allegations leveled against his appointees.
The president has been accused by his opponents of clearing his officials in his governments involved in corruption scandals.
But speaking at the Ghana Bar Conference in Takoradi, President Akufo-Addo said it is not his duty to clear officials, adding that he has never independently declared any official innocent in instances where they are alleged to be involved in corrupt deals.
According to him, “I am aware of the orchestrated attempts by my opponents to hang the tag of corruption on the necks of my government and myself, despite all the manifest efforts being made to deal with the phenomenon of corruption.”
“It is lie and I am sad to hear this from Nana Akufo-Addo”, Mr. Anthony Kwaku Boahen fumed insisting the government is embodiment of corruption ever Ghanaians know.
