MUNICIPAL Chief Executive for Mfantseman Municipal Assembly at Saltport in the Central Region,Mr Kenneth Kelly Essuman, has shot down reports in some sections of the media which were widely circulated that the current government has abandoned some major projects including a market complex project at Biriwa started by the former President John Dramani Mahama administration.
According to him, the reports were manufactured lies and falsehood cooked by the Mfantseman Constituency Executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) led by Mr Joseph Bambel populary known as Amicus Curiae.
He stated that it was a grand agenda by them to discredit the current strenuous efforts being taken by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) government through his Assembly to complete all the uncompleted social and infrastructural lifeline projects executed under the previous NDC government to improve the living conditions of the residents in the area.
The MCE and Member of Parliament (MP) for Mfantseman Constituency, Mr Ekow Kwansah Hayford have recently come under serious attack by some top elements of the NDC in the area for which they raised questions over the current government’s inability to continue major projects started under the NDC government in the area.
The Mfantseman NDC Constituency executive member, Mr Amicus Curiae in a lengthy write-up sighted by Today and tilted: “The insensitive nature of Nana-Bawumia government has reached high heavens,” named several examples of lifeline projects of former President John Dramani Mahama which have left to rot.
He noted that most of these projects located at Biriwa which were due for handing over for use are market centres and CHIP Compound but the Akufo-Addo NPP government has abandoned these projects after winning the general election in 2016.
But in a quick rebuttal in an interview with Today via telephone calls on Friday July 5, 2019, Mr Essuman vehemently denied all the allegations.
He maintained that the NPP and the Assembly didn’t abandoned the Birim market complex project as claimed by the exercutives of the NDC.
According to the MCE, the Assembly has allocated fund in its 2019 budget to re-roof the Biriwa market project which was shoddly executed by the contractor who was the former Mfantseman NDC Constituency Chairman, Mr Moore under the watch of the previous MCE.
Against this background, the MCE assured the residents that the Assembly was working with the Assembly members and its technocrats to re-roof the market for the traders to use.
