The leadership of Prestea Communicators for Development (PCD) based in Prestea Huni-Valley wishes to applaud the Management of Goldfields Ghana Ltd (GGL) and Government of Ghana for teaming up to ensure the construction of Bogoso Junction to Damang Road, which was inaugurated today, 09/07/2019.
In 2017, and 2018 budget presented by Finance Minister, Mr. Ken Ofori Atta, a number of taxes on importation of heavy duty machines were abolished as well as reduction of Electricity Tariff for Mining Companies by 21%. This has made GGL be able to fulfil one of its Social Corporate Responsibility to the people of Prestea Huni-Valley.
ELECTRICITY TARIFF REFORMS (REDUCTION)- NATIONAL BUDGET 2018.
•Residential – Up to 13%
•Non Residential – 13%
•Special Load Tariff- Low Voltage – 13%
•Special Load Tariff -Medium Voltage – 11%
•Special Load Tariff -High Voltage – 14%
•HIGH VOLTAGE MINES – 21%
Social Corporate Responsibility, as seen in the case of GGL is very much inadequate in the case of Golden Star Bogoso Prestea Ltd that has the maximum concession in several communities in Prestea Huni-Valley.
We at Prestea Communicators for Development continuously feels GSBPL should not hold the notion that, giving little contracts to some few leaders under the module of local contractors, must not be translated into corporate social responsibility, to the extent that, even when all roads in the Prestea area is nothing to write home about, it is Municipal Assembly which have to provide fuel to the few local contractors, to do “little window dressing”, while GSBPL remains unconcern to the plight of the community! Ye ti sika so nannso y3br3!!
We are aware recently, Hon. Asoma Kyeremeh, Minister for Lands and Natural Resources met Management of GSBPL, over same PPP module, as used by GGL on Bogoso Junction to Damang, and we wish, GSBPL will this time, become more responsive and collaborate to aphalt Bogoso to Prestea and other linking roads like Prestea to Mbease Nsuta, where they make lots of money from.
Once again, we say Ayeeko to Goldfields Ghana and the Government under the able leadership of Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo for providing conducive environment for multi-national companies operating in our area.
