The Ashanti Regional Police command has arrested three executives of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) including the Nasara Coordinator for Asokwa Constituency one Alidu, youth organizer of Manhyia South Constituency, Kyei and a staff of the Electoral Commission and one other over the illegal possession of electoral commission materials.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) executives and members earlier accused the NPP of registering minors and as such mounted surveillance leading to the arrest of the four said to be operating in concert.
The four according to reports gathered by Myafricatoday.com were arrested at the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council’s canteen behind the regional minister’s office filling forms for new registrants believed to be minors.
It is gathered that their arrest follows an official complaint filed by the NDC’s constituency secretary for Asokwa in the Ashanti Region and are currently in police custody assisting the police in their investigations.
Police confirmed the arrest to this portal but declined further comments except to say they are investigating them over violation of the registration procedures in the ongoing limited registration exercise.
