It is not known if he succeeded in killing the elephant or not but sources at the hospital revealed that he has suffered multiple fractures as a result of the attack.

Even though members of the Larabanga community believe Seidu Yakubu was attacked by a buffalo, sources at the Mole National Park indicate it was an elephant.

Our sources say two other hunters in the company of Yakubu who could not walk properly, pulled him to a spot near Zaina Lodge in the Mole National Park and then fled to Larabanga for fear of arrest by rangers of the Mole National Park and then reported the matter to the Assemblyman who quickly informed authorities of the Mole National Park.

It is gathered that Seidu Yakubu who has gained notoriety in poaching was reportedly attacked by an elephant in the year 2006 and seriously wounded with his intestines gushing out but was saved by a staff of the Mole National Park who spotted him while conducting patrols.

He was sent to the hospital and when he was about to getting well,  run away.  A year later, he again killed an antelope in the Mole National Park and was arrested and jailed 7 years.

Seidu Yakubu was only released from prison about 3 years ago and it is reported he have so far killed 5 elephants according to sources that confided in a journalist with Bole-based Nkiligi Fm.
