” the most important thing is power… but Ghanaian women have not shown enough dynamism and activism to deserve a place on the decision- making table and not enough movement has been made by women in Ghana”.

According to her even though there are 5 women cabinet ministers who represents about 26% of the total number of 19 cabinet ministers, the president lied about it been 30%.

“How could the president get this basic fact wrong? could it be part of his mere lip service and rhetoric about women empowerment”. she added.

Th conference held on the theme ‘women deliver 2019’ providedNana Addo the platform to share his views on women empowerment and equality in Ghana.

She further stated that since 1995 following the Beijing conference, various government, gender activists among others, have played important roles to achieve gender equality and so for the president to say not enough has been done in this area is embarrassing to women.

She therefore asked the president to render apologies to Ghanaian women for his distasteful comments about them.

“for president Akufdo Addo to opine that the 51.2% of women in Ghana have achieved nothing in terms of activism or advocacy to merrit a place on the decision-making table, is most disappointing and colossal embarrassment”. she said.

Dr. Hannah Bissiw also indicated that despite male chauvinistic tendencies that women in Ghana have contended with over the years in all spheres of their lives, they have defied all odds to achieve great feats in the areas of science, technology, engineering , politics among others.

She added that people like Dr. Joyce Aryee, Hannah Tetteh, Mrs Charlotte Osei, Her ladyship Theodora wood etc have worked hard to attain leadership roles.

” Is president Akufo Addo suggesting in any way that these illustrious women and the millions of others have not done enough to deserve a place on the decision making table? Is she suggesting that these great women not excluding his own wife, her excellency, Rebecca Akufo Addo, chief of staff, Akosua Frema Opare and his five daughters did not rise to their status by dint of hard work and advocacy skills.? She quizzed?
