Delegates of the ruling government, New Patriotic Party ( NPP) last Saturday elected new executives to lead the party in the Western North Region.
The election which was held at the regional capital- Sefwi Wiawso and the positions which were grabbed included Chairman, 1st vice Chairman, 2nd vice chairman, Organizer, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Treasure and Nasara Coordinator .
Mr. William Benjamin Assuah who was elected as the Chairman had 65 votes of the total votes cast, 158, whiles Mr. Benjamin Armah got 55 and lawyer Blay had 38.
Mr. Theophilus Tandoh won the 1st Vice Chairman with 75 votes followed by Adasa Nkrumah as the 2nd Vice Chairman. Mr. Samuel Kofi Abiaw had the Secretary position and Alex Monny as his deputy.
For the regional treasurer position, Gifty Adu Ankamah defeated John Anokye and Alhaji Rahaman also had the Nasara coordinator position. Mr. Samuel Adu Adjei was elected as the regional organizer
The Youth Organizer position was very tough as two aspirants , Mr. Gabriel Anokye and Mr. Doe Gabriel had the same 48 votes and the winner will be decided by the National Executives of the party, said the National Executive representative at polling center.
The newly elected regional chairman on his victory speech commended the delegates for their wonderful work done. He called for unity in the party to ensure resounding victory come 2020 polls. “ l am ready to work with everyone, especially the grassroots.” he added. He finally thanked President Akuffo Addo for creating this region.
The newly elected executives were duly sworn into office by the National Executive representatives.
