The Talensi District Chief Executive Dr. Christopher Boatbil has commissioned a modern new CHPS compound for the people of Awaradone of Winkongo community in Talensi Distict of the Upper East Region.
According to Dr. Boatbil, the initiative of building a new modern CHPS compound edifice was considered after his assumption in office as the District Chief Executive, following numerous calls by some media practitioners and citizens of the area to improve the health delivery of citizens of Awaradone community.
He said after awarding the contract in December to a contractor, the contractor was able to finish the project within one to two months later, but waited to connect electricity before the commissioning.
However, he expressed satisfaction with the excitement in the faces of people of Awaradone community after the completion of the CHPS Compound.
“The genesis of this structure you’re seeing today started when I assumed office on the 15th of May 2017. I think there were number of media people that have seen the plight of Awarodone in terms of their CHPS Compound and drew my attention to it. Indeed, it was noticed that the previous old CHP Compound was an old school building quarters that was very small and sometime patient came, they were sitting in the sun but today, am happy with the excitement I have seen here” he explained.
Responding to the furniture appeal by youth of Awaradone, Dr. Boatbil said the assembly will make effort to see that furniture is provided to equip the CHPS Compound.
He also called on the Health Directorate to assist government by engaging with some other developmental agencies that are willing to help them with some of the amenities.
Meanwhile the project was funded with the District Development Facility (DDF).
