Mtn Ghana Foundation donates 140 science set to two schools in Upper East Region

As part of their social responsibilities for development in education, the number one telecommunication giant in Ghana MTN has donated One Hundred and Forty (140) DEXT Technology Science Set to Akantome Junior High School in the Bolgatanga Municipality and Gbeogo School for the Deaf in the Talensi District all in the Upper East Region. Each of schools received a donation of 70 pieces of the science set.

Speaking to A1radioonline.com after taking his pupils through a demonstration lesson, a science teacher at Akantome Junior High Thomas Achanga explained that the science kits provided by MTN will go a long way in making his teaching as a science teacher easier and understanding to his pupils.

 Meanwhile, the Akantome school headmistress Priscal Lisah who was overwhelmed with excitement said the science equipment provided to them by MTN Foundation will be put in good use to the betterment of the school. However, as Oliver twist Madam Lisah also appeal for an unused computers to facilitate effective teaching of ICT and science in the school.

 Gbeogo School for the Deaf, also gave officials from MTN a wonderful welcome by offering all MTN officials present at the donation scene a name in a sign language.

Addressing, congregation, the School Headmaster of Gbeogo School for the Deaf Faatah Felix Neetege expressed satisfaction with the kind gesture shown by the number one telecommunication giant.

According to Mr. Neetege, donating science set to Gbeogo School for the Deaf, is great move by MTN because, the deaf also have interest in doing science just like any other individuals and hoping the science set provided will enhance teaching and learning efficiently.

The Talensi District Director of Education Emelia Adisa Abdulai who was also present at the donation scene also sends a huge appreciation to the entire team of MTN Foundation for their wonderful support especially to improving teaching and learning of ICT and Science in various Schools across the country including Schools in the Talensi District of the Upper East Region.

However, as Oliver twist, Madam Abdulai also called on MTN to further come to their aide by identifying some other needed projects to assist in the Talensi District.   

Kwesi Osei Hyeaman Area Sales Manager for Northern Region said as part of MTN social responsibility, they are given out over two thousand (2000) science devices to 14 schools across the country. According to him, MTN believes in capturing the students early into science and technology, the reason why they are given out the science set to students across the country.

Meanwhile Mawuli Amedofu DEXT Technology Limited Supply Chain Manager said with the introduction of the science set in various schools especially in School of the Deaf will be of great impact to those in special needs such as Gbeogo School for the Deaf, because they will be able to understand science quickly through demonstrations.

However, science students in some of the benefited schools expressed their excitement to MTN and according to them, they will no longer rely on only theory as they use to, because of lack of science equipment’s.
