The Government of Japan has handed over 26 4×4 double cabin pick-up vehicles to the Ministry of Health to support operational activities of Community Health Planning and Services (CHPS) in the three Northern regions of Ghana.
This set of vehicles is part of a grant agreement made between the Government of Ghana and JICA to support Ghana achieve Universal Health Coverage in primary Health Care. Other items to be procured under this grant include: 4 SUVs, 300 motorbikes, 1000 bicycles and 1500 home visit kits.
The support is to complement the “CHPS for Life” Technical Cooperation Project being supported by JICA in these three regions.
The Director General of the Ghana Health Service and the Minister of Health both expressed their gratitude for the friendly gesture of the Japanese Government and promised to ensure effective use of the vehicles.
In the handing over ceremony were the, Minister of Health, DG of GHS, Ambassador of Japan, Chief and Senior Representatives of JICA Ghana and other officials from the Ministry of Health, Embassy of Japan and JICA
